Free Healthy School Meals for All: Nourishing Kids and
Supporting Affordability for Families

As a new school year begins, families across the country are struggling to keep up with the rising cost of groceries, gas, housing, child care, and health care. Research shows that school meals are the healthiest source of food for children, and public opinion polling shows that the majority of voters support offering school meals at no charge to families.

Learn more about the National Healthy School Meals for All Coalition

Providing every student with a healthy school breakfast and lunch at no charge helps families stretch every paycheck, ensures children are hunger free and ready to learn, and reduces administrative work so school nutrition professionals have more time to prepare fresh and appealing meals.

The nine states that offer free school meals for all and the thousands of schools across the country that offer school meals at no charge through the Community Eligibility Provision are demonstrating that Healthy School Meals for All works for students, families, schools, and farmers. Now it's time for Congress to build on and protect that success by passing legislation to ensure every child, in every community, has access to free healthy school meals.
