Seed Celebration: Saving Seeds With Song, Story, and Dance

September 19 | 2–7 PM

Over the past month, Farmer Mai has been leading intimate harvest gatherings in the heirloom grain fields. Together, participants have harvested rare grain varieties by hand, sharing stories and reconnecting with the rhythms of seed stewardship.

These gatherings have remained intentionally small. As a member of this community, you are among the few invited to experience this rare tradition where preserving biodiversity, culture, and community become one practice.

This harvest carries a story. Last winter, many of us danced in these same fields as part of the Earthseed journey, offering our footsteps, songs, and joy as a blessing to the seeds resting beneath the soil. Across generations and continents, communities have gathered to sing, dance, and celebrate the cycles of cultivation. Now, we return to harvest the grains whose beginnings we honored together.

This season culminates with our Seed Celebration on September 19, a day devoted to saving seeds and celebrating the relationships that allow them to continue. From 2–5 PM, we will gather under the shade of willows to clean and save seed, share stories, and honor the heirloom grains entrusted to us. From 5–7 PM, we will celebrate summer’s abundance with food, music, dance, and the joy of being together in the field.
